Bathroom window shutters aren’t just practical for bathrooms — they can completely transform the look and feel of the space.
From sleek full-height shutters that bring a modern edge, to tier-on-tier shutters that offer versatile light and privacy control, through to classic solid panel shutters that create a bold, timeless statement — wooden shutters add architectural detail and enduring beauty.
Here, we showcase a selection of recent projects.
Each has its own distinct design considerations, highlighting just how versatile shutters can be in these spaces.
In this family home, black-framed windows and white marble set a striking tone.
To echo the monochrome details, we installed large 89mm slat sizes with a discreet split, allowing the top and bottom sections to be adjusted independently.
The shutters enhance both privacy and light control while reinforcing the modern architectural lines.
This period property called for a heritage-inspired solution.
Solid panel shutters in mid-grey, designed with Georgian-style raised detailing, respect the home’s history while offering privacy and insulation against single-glazed leaded windows.
A timeless choice that feels both authentic and practical.
Full-height shutters with mid-rails give this marble-clad bathroom flexibility, as upper and lower slats move independently.
A dark stain finish adds warmth to the light interior while blending discreetly with the building’s exterior architecture, ensuring cohesion inside and out.
Within a barn conversion, shutters in our exclusive “Bark” finish echo the exposed beams and timber panelling.
Extra-large 114mm slats provide a strong architectural presence, opening fully to frame views while offering privacy within the deep window reveals.
Tier-on-tier shutters were the perfect choice for this period bathroom with sash windows.
Lower panels provide privacy, while the upper section opens independently for flexible light control.
The finish ties into both the room’s scheme and the stonework outside, ensuring balance from every angle
This unique property features a series of unusually shaped windows, presenting both a design challenge and an opportunity to demonstrate the versatility of hardwood shutters.
In the ensuite bathroom, where the window sits close to the shower area, hardwood was the only viable option, as unlike UPVC or water resistant alternatives, it can be profiled precisely to match the irregular shape.
We advised the clients clearly to avoid direct water contact, and to ensure durability, the shutters were sealed carefully with silicone around the edges.
Finished in a deep grey tone, they complement the black window frames perfectly while aligning with the room’s contemporary scheme.
The result is a tailored solution that respects the architecture, balances practicality with aesthetics.
Classic white shutters remain a favourite.
Here, they are softened to an off-white shade that complements the period bathroom design and its roll-top bath.
Full-height panels with subtle splits allow natural light and privacy control, while the finish ties seamlessly into the room’s panelling for a cohesive, timeless effect.
