In this family home, black-framed windows and white marble set a striking tone.
To echo the monochrome details, we installed large 89mm slat sizes with a discreet split, allowing the top and bottom sections to be adjusted independently.
The shutters enhance both privacy and light control while reinforcing the modern architectural lines.
This period property called for a heritage-inspired solution.
Solid panel shutters in mid-grey, designed with Georgian-style raised detailing, respect the home’s history while offering privacy and insulation against single-glazed leaded windows.

This unique property features a series of unusually shaped windows, presenting both a design challenge and an opportunity to demonstrate the versatility of hardwood shutters.
In the ensuite bathroom, where the window sits close to the shower area, hardwood was the only viable option, as unlike UPVC or water resistant alternatives, it can be profiled precisely to match the irregular shape.
We advised the clients clearly to avoid direct water contact, and to ensure durability, the shutters were sealed carefully with silicone around the edges.
Finished in a deep grey tone, they complement the black window frames perfectly while aligning with the room’s contemporary scheme.
The result is a tailored solution that respects the architecture, balances practicality with aesthetics.
Classic white shutters remain a favourite.
Here, they are softened to an off-white shade that complements the period bathroom design and its roll-top bath.
Full-height panels with subtle splits allow natural light and privacy control, while the finish ties seamlessly into the room’s panelling for a cohesive, timeless effect.
